Questions often arise about the proper sequencing of undergarments when wearing shapewear; should you wear pantyhose, panties, and shapewear all at the same time?  In what order should you put on your undergarments?  To answer the first question, shapewear manufacturers, such as Bali shapewear, design their products to be worn without panties.  When sequencing your undergarments, you should put on pantyhose underneath your shapewear to avoid it slipping down.

This might not work for everyone; it depends on your level of comfort.  Some older women might be opposed to not wearing panties, or some women might prefer thigh-high stockings to pantyhose.

It’s not always easy to shop for your wife around the holidays.  Here are a few simple gift ideas she’s sure to love and help you to get out of the doghouse for what you might have given her last year!

~Jewelry Accessories – around the holidays jewelry vendors will tend to have deals on all of their stock from necklaces to anklets.  A unique piece of jewelry for your wife is sure to delight.

~Shapewear – though giving your wife the gift of lingerie might send the wrong message (since it’s more for you than it is for her!), a set of Playtex shapewear will help her to relax and feel more comfortable.

~Designer Accessories – handbags, purses, wallets, shoes; if they’re made by a reputable designer your wife is sure to love and treasure it for a long time.

~GiftCard – though it might seem like a ‘copout’ gift, a gift card from her favorite store in addition to any of the above items sends the message that  you want her to have what she wants, but that you also know what she likes.

Often women think about bras in their various styles and shapes, needing to find the perfect fit for excellent contouring and support.  But when you want a bra that is just plain comfortable, you can’t go wrong with Hanes underwear.  Hanes has been the leading manufacturer of cotton undergarments for decades, specializing in simple underwear without a lot of frills.  Despite the simplistic design, Hanes bras still offer a great deal of support.

In addition to their bras, Hanes also manufactures cotton shirts and briefs, which offer the same comfort as their undergarments with excellent breathability.

Because we wear different outfits, it’s never enough to own just one bra.  Wearing different styles of bras will support the different activities we involve ourselves in day to day.  Here are the five basic styles of bras and the benefits they can provide:

~Sports – these bras are designed to provide support for physical activities such as running, tennis, or basketball.  Nike, Adidas, and Champion bras are all renowned for their support and brand commitment to sports.

~Seamless – these bras are smooth and rounded; for use under T-shirts or light clothing.

~Seamed – these bras provide a more defined shape designed to fit under dresses, blouses, or more formal apparel.

~Strapless – these bras are for use beneath strapless garments, or those that have spaghetti straps or halter necklines.

~Sexy – these bras are designed to accentuate a woman’s curves under low cut garments.  Victoria’s Secret bras tend to fall under this category most of the time.

Linking Bras to Breast Cancer

The Sumptuous Soft Cup Bra

Though the research has not been distributed all over, there is astounding evidence that bras can lead to breast cancer.  This is due to the fact that bras, if too tight, can restrict the lymph flow in your breasts.  Lymph is a natural fluid produced by the body which washes out toxins and other waste materials.  By limiting the flow of the lymph, these toxins and waste materials can stick around inside the breasts and lead to the formation of tumors.

The two who discovered this after extensive research were Singer and Grismaijer, who then produced a book titled Dressed to Kill.  The two scientists found that wearing a bra more than 12 hours per day increased the chance of breast cancer developing by a huge percentage, while women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had little to no risk of developing breast cancer.  Thus, even when wearing your standard Playtex bras, it is wise to ensure that your bra is not too tight, and that you don’t wear it more than necessary.

Plus Size Bra Fitting Facts

bra Size

I recently attended a seminar by one of the world’s largest bra manufacturers, and came back with some interesting information about bra fitting.  During the seminar it was expressed several times that a lot of women, about eight out of ten, are wearing the wrong bra size.  This happens for a lot of reasons, but often it is because women choose a band width too wide and a cup size too small.  In addition some women don’t realize that brands do not have congruent sizes.  In some cases it might be necessary to try out several brands to find the bra that fits you best.

When it comes to fitting plus size bras, about 70% of the support comes from the back, thus both the band and the cup need to be snug against the skin.  This will provide a woman with the most support and comfort available.

Sometimes bra straps will refuse to stay on your shoulder, and often are a sign that your bra is not the correct size.  Here are a few tips that should solve this problem. ~Wearing a T-back bra can stop straps from slipping off your shoulder.

~If your bra is too old the elastic in the bra straps may have worn out, and it might be time to purchase a new bra.
~Using a bra strap cushion can assist in preventing slipping bra straps.
~If your bra cups are too full then this will pull the straps off your shoulder, measure your cup size and ensure your bra is not too small.
~Bras with bigger straps can sometimes help with keeping the straps in place.

millimeterphotos-Champion-brasWhether you’re first starting track and field at your junior high or high school, or you’re making a routine trip to the gym, a sports bra is great for support and ensures a workout free from hindrance.  Most sports bras are made out of breathable nylon or spandex fabrics, and are durable and comfortable.  Champion bras are some of the top recommended sports bras, as well as Nike and Reebok.  However, sports bras are also available from most sporting goods manufacturers.

For active women, sports bras also make excellent gifts.

Finding The Right Fit

Champion-sports-braWhether you’re using a bra for intense sports activities, while wearing a dress, or just as a comfortable undergarment, there are a variety of different shapes and styles designed to fit you best.  For sports like soccer, baseball, or tennis, sports bras are designed for movement and support in motion.  If you’re looking for a bra to reduce the size of your bust, a minimizer bra will work for you.  Or if you prefer a bra that you can’t even feel against your skin, a barely there bra will contour to your curves and feel nearly invisible under your garments.

Another factor to consider when thinking about a bra is material; the most common is cotton, but there are also bras comprised of a cotton mix, silk, and variety of other materials which will feel different against your skin.

I have always enjoyed running. I was a member of both my junior high and high school track teams and I took first place in many events. But after years of running competitively and for pleasure I noticed it was taking a toll on my body. My knees often ached and my breast began to sag.

I was almost tempted to quite running and join the sedentary masses until a friend of mine suggested I try a new sports bra. She said that there were new sports bras out there that offered great breast support. I ended up buying a one of the latest Champion sports bras and it worked wonders. My breasts were just as perky as they’d ever been. Now I am really considering trying out their line of knee braces.
