Thanks to expeditious technology, you can run your own business out of your home, or keep a watchful eye while laying on a beach in Jamaica. All you need is an open mind and a bit of time to gain some self-starter savvy. Here are the top three reasons why you may want to start your own business:
1. Be your own boss
A recent online survey provided by a staffing agency has claimed that over half of their employees hate their boss, and while the details of this data is unknown, it’s clear that people would rather be in charge of their own lives. Becoming an entrepreneur will solve that disdain of having to be told what to do by calling the shots yourself.
2. Spend time with your family
Based on a US Census factoid, Americans spend 46.5 hours a week at work, which does not include the time it takes to commute to and from their place of employment (which averaged to 100 hours per year). This is a clear departure from the thought process of Henry Ford, the father of mass production. Ford cut his workers hours so they could spend time with their families and found that as a result, his employees were more productive. Clearly having time with your time with your loved ones will allow you to lessen the amount of stress from work and continue to view your job with fresh eyes.
3. Personal enrichment
Like a child finishing up a difficult puzzle or putting together a detailed model car, starting your own business can be personally rewarding. It is engrained in the American psyche to see through your dreams with the kind of self-starting gumption that makes this country tick. Success is that much sweeter when it’s something that you’ve heralded on your own accord.
