I think I’m going to be ill. No one deserves to have future generations destroyed to horrifically because of a war and no one has the right to make that call.
March 10th, 2008 at 11:19 am
You think that is something?
Just imagine what “depleted” uranium is going to do IRAQ
we sprayed tons of the stuff all over the place
google it and find out what the next 2,000 years is going to be like for those that live there.

Actually, it’s worse that than for Iraq.
The big danger isn’t radiation poisoning.
The big problem is that Uranium is a heavy metal. Heavy metals are very, very bad for you. Think Mercury, Lead, etc. And when a DU round is fired you get DU dust and some vaporized DU.
Mind you, I’m not saying the amount of radiation from DU means nothing - I certainly don’t think it is yummy, yummy GOOD for you - but I suspect it isn’t the biggest danger.
I don’t think I’d want to eat any food grown or raised in Iraq.
The Air Force’s own fact sheet on DU:

I think this is a very sad situation. As being from Vietnam I think the war has done many horrible things to Vietnam. Nobody deserves this, why did they have to do this? I just question what kind of sick minded terrible person would spray agent orange upon a city knowing it would effect those lives living there. We need to stop war.

Peace,
“Agent Orange” was not sprayed on cities to cause deformities in children. AO was sprayed on the jungle and other vegetation from the air as a defoliant. The goal being to make it harder for NVA and Viet Cong forces to hide in the dense vegetation of Vietnam, thus making it easier for U.S. forces to engage and fight them.
Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_orange
Unfortunately despite lots of political and legal efforts, the U.S. government seems to be basically taking the stance that there is no definitive SCIENTIFIC proof that Agent Orange exposure results in the reported medical effects. I don’t know any more about the scientific & legal fight over this than what I read in wikipedia, so I’m going to stop my commentary here.

Where is the justice? Cheney will probably die of his heart condition soon. I saw pictures of Bush with Vietnam vets in Texas. There was no remorse. Rove… there is nothing to say there. McNamara I think he realized what he did. He should have to take care of these people as retribution. Johnson is gone. But there are so many others. Bankers. Their nice suits and plush offices. The devil incarnate.

“The goal being to make it harder for NVA and Viet Cong forces to hide in the dense vegetation of Vietnam, thus making it easier for U.S. forces to engage and fight them.”
The goal of it’s use is meaningless considering ‘they’ had no right to be there in the first place. Secondly, anyone who even remotely tries to defend the use of an unknown chemical in such massive and careless ways is a fool.
March 10th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
They did the same shit in Iraq during the Gulf War and are doing it in Iraq now. Every other decade the military tests out their new weapons. Trust me they don’t give a damn about civilians. It’s all collateral damage.
March 10th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
The problem with this is that it presents lots of terrible cases, but no proof. There were so many people involved on both sides that some of the deformities/illnesses shown here will happen in that population due to other causes. That doesn’t prove Agent Orange (or the dioxins in it) caused some or all of them.
Not trying to take anything away from the suffering these people are enduring, nor say that Agent Orange didn’t impact health, but a series of pictures isn’t proof. If you truly want change GET PROOF. Proof means science, not emotion. That’s the difference between being angry (no change) and being effective.

Mike S: This doesn’t seem to be a scientific article, and it’s copied from another site, anyway. My guess is that the proof of Agent Orange causing these things is ALREADY OUT THERE. So, go find it for us, Mike S. Who knows, you may never find the proof you want, though, because it may be covered up and hidden away. It may be proof someone has to fight to reveal. And, what is a cover-up of something of that magnitude? There is a reasonable word for that which has been turned into a lightning rod: conspiracy. It happens all the time, every day, and courts lock people up for conspiracy all the time. There is a trend among skeptics to be socially-acceptable to one another, and “tow the party line”. Skeptics tend to deny the existence of conspiracies. Especially those which are cooked up among those with the most power to accomplish the aim of those conspiracies. Once you see evidence of conspiracy, I would expect you to give up and begin to say that Agent Orange is not the cause of these things. Meanwhile, the rest of us tend to feel the odds are that Agent Orange is connected to these illnesses because IT IS THE COMMON THREAD BETWEEN THEM ALL. And, we are not wrong to do so. We don’t need statisticians to point out the likelihood of Agent Orange’s effects when one of the photo descriptions mentions that “spina bifida is recognized by the V.A. as a consequence of Agent Orange”. Also, among its members, the Order of the Silver Rose probably knows SOMETHING about this. They are veterans of THE VIETNAM WAR. Maybe they don’t doubt it because !they watched friends and fellow soldiers - and their families - go through the effects. From the beginning. Their word is good enough for me.

This is life. This is war.
The common link between all these cases is good enough proof for me, not just with the AO, but with war in a whole. America should not be testing new things. If we are to “help the world” by protecting it from the “evils”, we should switch a different path. NOW.
March 13th, 2008 at 6:15 am
Funny how everyone blames America for the world’s problems. Just remember it is America (with her failures) that comes to everyone else rescue. If not, you would all be living under the rule of Hitler. If America did not go in and stop shit then everyone would bitch because we didn’t get involved. We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. The same people that bitch about our involvement in Iraq and Vietnam are the same people who bitch because we aren’t sending troops to Dafur, Sudan. So if you don’t like America and you are in america then get the fuck out. We don’t need you.
March 13th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
I think most of you are missing a point not made by this post. You see, these atrocities are rarely done by the general public. It is done by the powerful elitists who care nothing about anyone else but themselves and their prestigious throne. It’s not just America, it’s all over the world. Any human with too much power fed to them will always act cruel and down right psychopathic. It’s human nature. So, to blame these type of things on Americans, Nazi’s or any other countries or group is inaccurate.
And as far as Jason’s statement of ‘get out if you don’t like America’, loving America doesn’t mean that you love everything about America. There is nothing wrong with loving America but not loving everything about it. You have the choice of changing the country if you see something wrong with it. That’s the whole reason why America exists at all. The founders of this country saw that there was something wrong with the way that they are being governed. They wanted freedom from oppression and wanted to be governed by themselves, not by a bunch of elitists. So if you disapprove of something, stand up and fight for it. That’s what America is all about.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
If not, you would all be living under the rule of Hitler
Bunch of fucking bullshit.
Sorry but the war was already WON when america entered the war, or do you fucking amis forget about the russian empire that destroyed nazi germany?

I was jsut wondering how do I get in touch with the families shown here in Vietnam? I would like to make small donations to them because I think they would need it more than the people in America. They are the more unfortunate ones because lack of sanitation, suppport, and money as you can see they are very poor. Please e mail me the information at nikkinguyen04@gmail.com. Thank you so much!

America’s government is a world wide war machine for profit and the citizens keep believing the lies broadcast by Tv which is also controlled indirectly by the government.
The young men that think they are fighting for their country are sadly mistaken they are fighting for the fat cats of industry which are most large corporations and stupidly elected politicians which will get in if you vote for them or not.
just ask the guys that fought in Vietnam that are suffering they bought the same line of bullshit. When will people learn the government is not your friend, you are expendable. And metals to your family for your dead body does no good and is not a fair trade.

…………….
The government of Vietnam asked us to help, we did that. Certainly the use of Agent Orange was horrific for both Vietnam and the American troops. No one was spared. The act of a government does NOT reflect the will or heart of the people..yet some of you can do nothing more than blame America. I wish we would just shut down our borders completely, develop our own technologies for energy and tell the rest of the world to go fuck themselves. But that won’t happen because there is always some whining bitches in this world that cry like babies because they don’t have the balls to fight their own fucking battles. They want AMERICA to help!! I say no fucking more.
And you asshole that claims the Russians beat the Germans are obviously full of donkey shit. America came into the war and had we not even YOU would be a NAZI by now. So thank us for fucking once then kiss my American ass bitch.
I was in Vietnam and suffer from AO myself. Yet my own government denies me. If they deny their own people, why would you think they would accept another countries cries? It is NOT the American people…it is the bitches in office that make promises they can not or do not fill. You have it a lot fucking worse than we do…so bitch to your own country when shit happens. America did not create your fucking problems…and hopefully we have learned enough to stay the hell out of all other countries little wars and business.
And the asshole that wishes we all go down in a nuclear holocaust…make sure your not there when we shoot back ASSHOLE!! Your just stupid enough to condemn the world rather than take responsibility that your a part of the same shit we all are in.
LONG LIVE AMERICA and the rest of you fend for yourselves. Every citizen here is armed to the teeth and we practice shooting almost daily. Come get some.

To Jason:
You realize that the reds took Berlin, Right? America got into WW2 to halt imperialist expansion on our sphere of influence. Period. Grow up.
Even if we ever had bailed anyone out, it wouldn’t justify this or any other disgusting thing the military has done.

To Case:
“The government of Vietnam asked us to help”
The western puppet governemnt? Yeah they did. And the war hawks wanted to, so it was a nice fit, eh?
“And you asshole that claims the Russians beat the Germans are obviously full of donkey shit.”
Back up your claims. Montgomery was already coming into the western front, and the Soviet army was already making it’s push. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
“America did not create your fucking problems”
Huh, seems like a lot of people in the world think that America did, actually.
“Come get some.”
This is the kind of thinking that politicians prey on. Mindless defense of the Motherland. We all know that about 2/3 of the American people are decent people, but there’s a large minority that are raving lunatics, or complete dolts, and they are the ones that allow this junk to happen. While you;re sitting there waving the flag and defending the actions of our purveyors of foreign policy, they’re busy screwing you and the rest of the world. Grow up, manchild.

Honestly…who cares? Shit happens…I feel no pity for them. Its their parents’ faults…When the USA showed up, they should’ve dropped their weapons and surrendered…Oh well…sucks to be them…
