It’s really exciting when you find a Home Business that absolutely fits you.  Not only are you enthusiastic regarding this business, but it is easy to talk about and to build your downline no matter if it is MLM or direct marketing business.  I believe it is at that time that you realize the difference between the two.  Having been in both worlds I can now talk about what I experienced and let my prospect make his/her own decision.  The most important part of any business is to be extremely honest and thorough about what you tell the prospect.  They should not experience any surprises and later regret that they ever met you.

The next business information should be that the prospect has the full knowledge that he/she will have to work to make their Home Based Business a success.  Neither will this happen in six months, but more like two years.  Yes, some do it much faster, but the percentage is very low and often results in a lot of people dropping out.  It is far better to get to know the prospect and what their needs are or what results they are looking for not just in the future, but also at the beginning.  If marketing has never been a part of their life, they need to know that this is something they are going to have to learn, or to hire someone to do it for them.  I have found that most new entrepreneurs have no idea of how to market or the work involved.  Taking the time to research the different methods of marketing (and there are many), the cost of each and the work to put it into effect would be highly beneficial. 

A very important factor to become successful at whatever business you choose is personal self-development.  A good part of time should be set aside for doing just that.  If you do not have the right mind-set, a positive attitude or lack self confidence; struggles will ensue.  There are many books, CD’s and DVD’s that cover this subject, as well as top speakers in this field holding training seminars everywhere.  Take advantage of this as well as reading everything you can get your hands on.  Your own personal development as a Home Business owner and builder should be top priority. 

What kind of business manager are you?  This too needs to be considered as top priority before you even start your business.  If you need training, you will have no problem finding that.   Setting up your office and business in a professional manner will only help to provide a successful future.  It’s like birthing a baby.  The pains are there as you begin to put everything in order and together.  The excitement comes as you see the birthing of your business start to take shape and then begin to grow.  Through research and taking the time to do it right, will keep you from going through costly mistakes.

Successful entrepreneurs are usually busy, and by busy I mean swamped.  They are good at what they do because they spend most of their time on task.  But, unfortunately, many entrepreneurs don’t spend enough time away from their desks, and many suffer from health problems due to inactivity. Many entrepreneur websites are dedicated to educating professionals on how to stay fit. Let’s face it; I do not believe that there is one entrepreneur that can say that he or she has just sailed into the sunset without the ups and downs the rest of us face.  The challenges are always there, and it doesn’t matter who you are.  The good news is, with research, wisdom and knowledge; you will find the answer and move on to the next hurdle.  As time goes on, the hurdles do get smaller and smaller and less frequent.  At that point, you will no doubt have a few years under your belt and can draw on past experiences or the mistakes and corrections others have made.  Then you will become an Entrepreneur, and build your business through wise marketing.

During your first year, stop and take the time to analyze each month that you have been through.  What you should have done and didn’t do or what you did and shouldn’t have.  This is valuable time spent, for there will be a day when you have a large business and many will be drawing on your wisdom and knowledge in order to be successful at what they are doing.  Never get to big to help someone else.  It is at those times that you will find out just how successful you are.
 
If you want to be a winner in the end, you will be, no matter how much work it takes or how many tears roll down your cheeks.  The easy way out is to quit.  There is a saying to that also, “once a quitter, always a quitter”.  So, no matter what you start, the chances are, you will never complete it.

It all comes down to the fact of whether you believe in yourself or not.  If you do, there isn’t anything that you can’t accomplish if you put your mind and heart into it.  Your dreams can come true.

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or Pay per Click programs are another great way to ensure you are getting maximum exposure.  Some SEM programs will allow you to target your market geographically, by keywords and /or key phrases.  You add will appear when the content or searches are relevant to what you have to offer.  SEM programs can be costly, as you are learning this type of marketing its important to start off with a smaller budget say about $200 - $500 the first month or so.  I have known people to go into this type of marketing blind and spend in the thousands of dollars with no success of leads.  As you gain knowledge and success in this type of marketing increase your budget.  Generally the higher your budget is the higher placement and it determines how frequently your ad shows up.

Article Marketing

This is basically free or low cost marketing.  But is very effective marketing when you create articles that include good content.  At the end of every article it’s important to include your contact information and possibly a small synopsis of whom you are and why they should look to you as an expert.

Blogging

Blogging is another way to expand your presence outside of your web site.  With blogging you have the opportunity to create a buzz around you and your product or service.  This will naturally interest people and drive them to your website.  With blogging keep in mind you can give your honest opinion and express how you truly feel about relevant topics in your industry.

Pay per click advertising is one of the quickest ways for you to get your information or web page in front of people.  But it can at times be very costly.  It takes a little bit of learning to do it right or you can hire out for this type of advertising.

If you are a home based business owner or looking to become one in the near future, you need to look at your business as just that, a BUSINESS.  Do not take this information lightly, too many home based business owners treat their business as a hobby or some get rich quick scheme.  Below is a list of six deadly traps that many entrepreneurs fall into.

The first deadly trap is not having a plan.  Your business plan needs to include a vision or goal statement.  Begin with the “END IN MIND”.  Know where you want to be in one year and break that down into what it will take over the next 12 months.  And then break each month into a weekly plan.  Your plan will also need to include a marketing plan and what types of advertising you are going to need to do to attract clients or prospects into your business.  A wise man once said, if you fail to plan you plan to fail.

The second deadly trap is not being coachable.  Finding a mentor to coach you and to learn from is essential to success.   You could end up wasting a lot of time and money trying to do things on your own.  There is a lot to learn to become a successful home based business entrepreneur.  You need to learn many different marketing medias, copy writing; auto responders and closing the sale.  It often takes getting out of your comfort zone.

The third deadly trap is failing to implement any type of marketing.  How are you going to attract customers, clients or prospects to your business if you fail to market?  Take one type of marketing at a time to learn and perfect before taking on something new in marketing.  It’s easy to become overwhelmed with all that is available from low to no cost marketing to expensive pay per click marketing.

The fourth deadly trap new home based business entrepreneurs find themselves in, is not being dedicated to their business.  If you think “I’ll try it out and see if it works,” don’t even start to sign up.  You have to be 100% dedicated to your business and know for a fact this is something you believe in.  Do everything you can to attend all the training calls, seminars and conferences your company offers.

The fifth deadly trap that so many entrepreneurs fall into is quitting.  They get frustrated and instead of staying dedicated and pushing through the tough times they just give up and quit.  They look for someone to blame for their failure.  Let’s be realistic, owning and running a business is going to take some effort and many more skill sets to learn.  To become effective and efficient you will have a bit of a learning curve.  These are things you will need to work on, but having a good team and mentor to talk things over with helps greatly in your success.

The sixth deadly trap that most home based business entrepreneurs fail to do is taking time to study personal development.  Each and every day you need to read or listen to an audio CD on personal development.  You also need to spend time in meditation. Success has its foundation in your mind, its been said that if you can see it, you can achieve it.  It is so important that you transform your thinking to produce new positive habits and behaviors that will help you archive wealth and prosperity in your life.  Another important part of personal development is to be grateful for everything and everyone in your life.

Is it your desire to be an Entrepreneur?   The word entrepreneur has a lot of characteristic to it.  Think about it for a moment.  Today, there is a lot of people trying to be just that, but when you classify exactly what type of Entrepreneur they are, it often doesn’t look that desirable to be one yourself.  Let us look at the Entrepreneur in three ways. 

 1).   Hoping.  That’s the person who is really just getting started and is giving it all they have to keep their interest in what they are doing.  In just a few months from the date of entry, they already question the fact if they should have gotten into it in the first place.  They are still hoping to make it a go, but really are starting to fall away.  The problem; they are still learning and don’t have a total understanding of what it takes or even regarding the product they are selling.  They work for a few hours a day, but there are many other thoughts on their mind that takes away their attention.  They still hope though, that the business will come through for them.

 2).   Committed.  This person now understands the product, and knows how much work it is going to take to get to the top.  They aren’t there yet, but they are committed to making it all the way to the top.  They see the vision of what their business is going to bring not only to them, but to all who join their team.  Unless you are very wealthy when you start your business it is going to take time to get there.  That’s what it is all about – being committed to whatever it takes and doing it one step at a time.  Unless it is handed to them, everybody starts at the bottom and climbs that ladder daily one step after the other.  They not only have the vision, but the heart to become a successful Entrepreneur.  The decision has been made that they will not quit. 

 3).   The Master.  Through commitment and sacrifice this Entrepreneur has reached the position of being “the master” in their field.  Their bank account is now to the position of allowing not only the small pleasures in life, but also the big ones.  They have poured their heart and soul into their business and have not wavered.  They have not allowed their eyes to wander but have stayed focused on their goals and have crossed them off, one goal at a time.

So, as an Entrepreneur, how focused are you?  Are you committed to being the Master in your chosen field?  Are you willing to sacrifice to become the best of the best?  If you are not achieving a very high level of success in your business, maybe it’s because you are not staying “focused” and mastering the one business you are in.  Don’t only think about it, but make a decision that will enhance your life today.
 

How serious are you about becoming an Entrepreneur?  Is there a passion and a desire in your heart, or do you feel like you’ll just give it a try and see if it works?  Becoming an Entrepreneur is a serious lifestyle.  This is the age of the Entrepreneur and I promise you, you will be seeing more and more business opportunities than you could ever imagine.  Some good and some bad, some will be totally honest with you, others will lead you on.  All in all you will need to sit down and think about where you want your life to go.  Is it just going to be a product, or how about an education.  I don’t mean that you go to school, it is the education that you receive from the business itself.  A life learning experience that will actually help to turn your finances into gold (so to speak) give you direction in your life and put you on a road to knowing how to handle your finances in order to bring you to the place in life of your choosing.  That is the type of Entrepreneur I want to be.  I want to choose where I want to be and be able to do all the things I want to do and when I want to do it.  That to me is being able to live a life of leisure and profitability.

Out of my six horses, I have two that just love to play with each other.  They will go at it for long periods of time – chasing each other, rearing up, picking on each other until one or two of the other horses will come in and say “that’s enough” and break up the game.  Then there comes a time for seriousness when a human goes out and puts them back into their learning mode.  One of those two became a top show horse, but it took hours of teaching and for the horse, hours of learning.  After reaching the top in his class, he now enjoys the freedom of just being ridden for pleasure, although he does have to exercise some of the routines he learned at an early age.  The other is just a youngster, so to speak, with a lot of work ahead of him.

We humans are so much like that.  We exercise our play time, but then we have to stop and get serious about our life.  If you have a corporate job that almost comes before family, one will tend to forget that family should always come first.  I know of many fathers as well as mothers that are on the road for several days at a time, while the other member of the family stays at home and plays both rolls.  This is needed in order to keep their heads above water.  I know of some that are making tremendous incomes but are also living the life of the wealthy and not taking a care to nurture their financial stability in a sound manner.  What’s more, a lot have found that out already with the housing problem that developed this year.  That’s what a job is about.  It has no feelings for any particular person – and really doesn’t care if you fail or not. 
Serious entrepreneurs look at the whole picture.  They see the roll they have to play in order to get to their goal.  The only one that can stop them is them; they are the boss of their life.  The soundness of a good Home Based Business is important.  It teaches you as well as provides alliances to help in your needs of stability.  Helps with your past as well as provides an education for your future.  Today, education is the best product on the market.  Consider where you are at and then do something about it.

Do you have a passion for a Home Business that can also be united with a passion you have in your life?  Well I do.  I have my own Home Based Business that can also enhance the passion and love that I have for my other dream.  That of having the pleasure of owning horses.  Having been raised on a cattle ranch during my growing up years, my love for the animals never stopped and I was absolutely blessed by owning one or more just about all my life.  Today I have six.  If you can take the time to just sit and watch these animals, you can truly learn from them. Horses are prey animals and their first instinct is to run at anything that looks like a problem or trouble.  Remind you of anyone? 

In a Home Based Business, people give up and run when it gets a little hard and a problem exists.  It’s much easier to do that than to spend the time researching for an answer that will eventually teach you a lot and help you to train the team members that you will have under you.  Some of those team members can be just about as difficult as some of my horses are at one time or another, but when you spend the time getting  as much knowledge about the product you are representing, you can put that person at ease.  The next thing I can tell you about the horse is, they are a very curious animal.  It may take them awhile, but they keep at it until their curiosity is fulfilled and then they go on their way. 
You are right, people are curious about the Home Based Business.  They want to know the product, the cost, how much income they can possibly earn and what it will do for them, along with many other questions.  You get prepared for that by studying and knowing the product your Home Based Business represents.  You also need to be the product of the product you are representing.  If there is a lot, start small and grow until you have covered all the parts that could be of help to you.  In my Home Based Business there is a lot available and not all of it will be of help to me, but there is a lot that will be.  Do I use them. . . . yes.   If a horse is satisfied and feels the security of the home it’s in, it relaxes; even lays down to sleep.  I’ve noted several times that sometimes five will lay down and one will stand keeping guard, but again, I have also seen all six resting at the same time.  It is then that I know they feel secure and safe in their surroundings.  As you know the Home Based Business you are in, you will feel that security and know when you can rest.  A day will even come when you can even enjoy the relaxation of enjoying your life.
