Bamboo windchimes

There’s this garden restaurant I’ve been too that has lovely romantic ambience. The garden is adorned with bamboo windchimes that play beautiful music every time it gets windy. The clicking of the bamboo chimes is so soothing.

Bamboo chimes are an alternative to the contemporary windchimes that are made of steel. They make a distinct sound that is as beautiful as the higher-pitched sound made by modern chimes. They are great when hung outdoors.

Creative birdhouses

During winter, it may be difficult for birds to find a warm place to stay. If you have a tree or a garden, you can help the birds stay warm and safe by setting up creative birdhouses. Birds will enjoy keeping themselves cozy inside.

Sometimes the natural environment cannot provide the shelter that birds need to survive. This happens especially in cities where trees are not abundant. We can do our share by helping our feathered friends.

Dirt Don’t Hurt Author: FlauntedHouse

Birds nest birdbathsHow cute is it to see birds bathing in the birdbaths of your backyard or in those puddles on the sidewalk? But did you know birds don’t always need water or even mud to bathe? For many birds a dry patch of sandy soil will also serve as a bath. These types of baths are called dust baths. Birds will often loosen soil by scratching at it with their legs or digging at it with their beaks, then proceeding to lie down or roll in the dust.

The purpose of these baths is feather maintenance. The dust that coats the feathers soaks up excess oil and helps rid  the feathers of tiny parasites. It’s thought that taking dust baths helps birds stay cool in hot weather and soothes skin irritation. It’s not hard to create a dust birdbath in your backyard. Simply look for an area with an exposed patch of sandy soil, loosen it up, and sit back and wait for a visit from your feathered friends.

Sweet Memories Author: FlauntedHouse

birdhouses

I loved the backyard of my childhood home. My parents took such pride in taking care of the lawn, and the flowers were beautiful. I remember we had daisies, daffodils, roses, geraniums, dahlias and carnations. Many a summer evening I would bring a blanket outside and lie on the grass admiring the flowers and watching the birds. My parents were also avid birdwatchers and had put several birdhouses out in the yard.

One evening when I was sitting outside I kept hearing a weak chirping noise coming from a nearby laurel bush. After a while I decided I would go see what was causing the little noise. When I neared the bush I spied a tiny little blue bird. It looked as though the baby bird may have injured his wing in a fall because the wing drooped a bit. I knew what I had to do; I fetched a clean towel and scooped up the little bird. After conferring with my parents we decided we would nurse the bird back to health. By the end of that summer the bluebird was as good as new. We let him go on Labor Day. The whole experience was so beneficial to me that I still think of it whenever I look at the birdhouses in my own backyard.

Bird Lovers Author: FlauntedHouse

decorative bird feeder

If you love the beauty and mysticism that birds bring to a region then a decorative bird feeder might be for you.  I got one for my home and I am just loving it.  The birds come and hang out with me during the day as I am lying around on my front lawn.

The most amazing varieties can be found in my neighbor.  It is absolutely fascinating.  I thought that only crows and pigeons lived near me, but I saw a blue jay yesterday and other varieties that I can’t even name yet.  I’m getting a bird watchers guide today so that I can begin learning about all the different types.

Home Decorations Author: FlauntedHouse

bamboo wind chimes

With the issue of home decorations, I am definitely very simplistic in my design.  Actually, in every aesthetic context I could describe my tastes as simple.  What that mean is that I like things to have few parts and lots of applications.  I don’t like mechanized things that are limited and useless.  If it has got a lot of parts I want it to function as well as my laptop does.  Otherwise, I like things to be calm and expressive.

I got bamboo wind chimes in my front yard to emphasize the simplistic beauty of wind rustling against organic material.  I really like what it does to the space and the atmosphere.

Little Ecosystems Author: FlauntedHouse

Bird houses

are an excellent way to introduce wildlife to you front door.  And birds are a positive part of a thriving ecosystem.  Your front yard could carry a variety of plant and wildlife, if you just let it go without mowing it.  Birds actually bring in lots of other animals and plants.  They bring in plants by eating seeds from the surround area and secrete them onto your lawn when they visit your birdhouse.  Next insects, smaller bugs, microorganisms, and worms come in to that area to much.  Plants grown, bringing in other birds, squirrels, and raccoons that also what to feed.  This process creates good soil on your lawn and other plants and animals that are bigger come in to grow.  Create a little ecosystem around your house.

How to Clean Bird Feeders Author: FlauntedHouse

bird feeders

If you have bird feeders in your backyard, then you know that with as many birds they attract, they can get rather dirty.  The upkeep on a feeder will ensure that the birds that fly on in will be healthy after they’ve eaten.  Here are some tips:

Obtain a tub big enough to hold your bird feeder(s), a scrub
brush, outdoor hose, gloves, scent-free liquid soap or detergent, and white
distilled vinegar.

Place your feeder in the tub outdoors; fill it with warm water and a squirt of liquid
soap or detergent. Wearing gloves, scrub the parts of the feeder you can reach,
and rinse thoroughly with a hose. Empty the tub and fill it with clean water and 4 cups of vinegar.

Let the feeder soak for 1 hour. Rinse thoroughly.
